Printers are very useful for office tasks for anyone who wants to use computer tools. Generally, a printer’s main function is to help people print text on paper. Nowadays, several types of printers are available to achieve quality printing. Typically, you can choose between a laser printer or an inkjet printer.
If you are unsure about your choice, reading this article will help you clearly differentiate between an inkjet printer and a laser printer.

The different types of laser and inkjet printers available

First, let’s remember that there are several types of printers that use various printing processes. However, this article will focus on the two main categories of printers: laser printers and inkjet printers.

Consequently, an inkjet printer consists of tiny droplets that are deposited on the paper. In contrast, the laser model mixes toner powder with paper through an electrostatic technique.
Laser printers
If you have a high printing volume, laser printers are the most recommended due to their cost-effectiveness. The price of toner is slightly higher than that of inkjet cartridges. However, it allows you to print many more documents, especially more quickly. This is an important factor when you are in a professional environment, but not relevant for home use.
Indeed, an inkjet cartridge prints between 100 and 150 pages. Regarding the laser toner printer, it allows you to print between 1,000 and 10,000 pages. Moreover, since the printing process is different, the quality of printed pages will be clearer in laser because there are no “ink grains” visible.
Furthermore, from the perspective of durability, laser printers are more resistant to light. However, even the best color laser printer will provide relatively expensive color printing. But the monochrome model is more affordable.
Inkjet printers
Using this type of printer is generally less expensive. In fact, the frequency of cartridge replacement is lower. Nevertheless, there are high-yield cartridges known as “XL”. They contain much more ink and allow for ample printing.
Another factor to consider is that some inkjet printers use color cartridges made up of a single block. These cartridges contain three layers of primary colors, while others have the three colors in separate cartridges or different blocks.
The downside of single-block color cartridges is that if one primary color runs out, you will be forced to buy the entire block. This is quite the opposite with the second type of cartridges. You will simply need to replace only the cartridge of the color that is empty.
